Text Action Menus

These pull-out menus appear when you select a text action in the Add an Action menu or click an existing action block in the Events & Actions panel.

Both the Update Text and Update Text with Counter action menus have the following options.

Note: In the gesture Properties, text action menus appear as action blocks under the selected gesture. See Gesture Actions and Transitions.

Seconds elapsed

Appears only when At Time is selected for the action in the Events & Actions panel. Is not available for text actions for gestures.

Enter a decimal or an integer to indicate the number of seconds that needs to elapse before the action can take place in the scene. If needed, use the time value displayed in seconds above the timeline at the bottom of Canvas View.

Text Area Select the Text element where you want to update text.

If simply updating text, enter the text to be displayed in the selected area.

If updating text with a counter, enter the name of an existing counter enclosed in curly braces {}. The numeric data stored in the selected counter will be displayed.

Tip: Entering the counter name manually rather then selecting from the list gives you more options of displaying the numeric data stored in the counter.

For example, you can type Score: {counter_name}, use two counters to display the current score out of a total amount {counter1_name} out of {counter2_name}, or put the text area next to an image and show how many item represented by the image the user has accumulated by typing X {counter_name}, and so on.
