All items in the side panels of the Studio workspace appear in the order in which you add them, with each new item appended at the bottom of the list. For some items, the order in the list is critical and can be changed, for others not.
Below is a high-level summary of the key points that you need to keep in mind.
Studio items | Is order critical? | What’s affected | Can you change it? | Comments |
Assets | No | Nothing | No | You can sort assets by column headings in the Assets panel. |
Scenes | No | The order of scenes in all drop-down lists throughout Studio | Yes | You can drag individual scenes to change the order. The order of scenes in the output, however, is defined by transitions. |
Layers and Elements | Yes | Interactive elements, which must be the frontmost ones on the screen | Yes |
To change the order of elements in the layers panel, simply click and drag the layers in the list as desired. For more details, see Elements and Layers. |
Actions | Sometimes | Execution order |
No |
The order of actions matter in certain cases, for example, when you need to update a counter value and display it on the screen. If you select the At Time and On Exit events, they will change the original order of actions in the list. For details, see Actions. |
Transitions | No | Nothing | No | Transitions in the Events & Actions panel are performed based on the logic you define. If multiple conditional statements evaluate to true, Studio will randomize the transitions with equal probability. |
