These pull-out menus appear when you select a counter action in the Add an Action menu or click an existing action block in the Events & Actions panel.

Depending on the action you select, the Counter action menus may have the following options.

Note: In the gesture Properties, counter action menus appear as action blocks under the selected gesture. See Gesture Actions and Transitions.

Seconds elapsed

Appears only when At Time is selected for the action in the Events & Actions panel. Is not available for text actions for gestures.

Enter a decimal or an integer to indicate the number of seconds that needs to elapse before the action can take place in the scene. If needed, use the time value displayed in seconds above the timeline at the bottom of Canvas View.

If changing a counter value, select an existing counter that you have previously set.

If setting a new counter, click New Counter, enter a descriptive name in the displayed dialog box, and click OK.

Important: Don’t use capital letters, special characters, or spaces in counter names. Use underscores instead of spaces, if needed.

Appears only when you select an action to change the counter value by performing a specific mathematical operation.

Select one of the five available operators, Add, Subtract, Divide, Multiply, or Modulo. The action name and the menu title update accordingly.

Min / Max

Appears only when you select an action to change the value of an existing counter.

Enter a range for the allowed counter values, for example, to exclude negative values or non-existent scene IDs, or to limit the maximum value for the counter if it is increased repeatedly during the demo.

Depending on your design or selected action, do one of the following:

  • If setting a counter, manually enter the appropriate positive or negative integer as the initial value of the counter, for example, to set a dollar amount in a gambling game or a number of character’s lives.
  • If changing a counter value using a specific mathematical operation, enter the appropriate positive or negative integer for the operator, for example:
    • If you want to divide the counter value by 10, enter 10.
    • If you want to change the counter value by modulo, enter the modulo value.
For example, if the current counter value is 10, and you want to perform operation “10 mod 3 = 1” (mathematically reads as “10 is congruent to 1, modulo 3”), enter is 3 in this field, and the current counter value will be set to 1.
  • If setting a counter for a transition by counter value, leave this field blank, and it will be automatically set to the ID number of the scene that you select in the Scene field below.

This is a look-up field that helps you find the desired scene ID to be used as a value for a counter, if needed.

For example, use this option to select a scene to transition to when adding an auto transition using the By Counter event in the Transition action menu. The ID number of the scene will be automatically set in the Value field. See also Transitions by Counter Value.
